Types of Therapy
As a therapist I know that therapy should be as individual as you are. What works best for one may not be effective at all for someone else.
As a result, I am constantly striving to learn more and more techniques to tailor the perfect therapy plan for each individual. With this in mind, I am committed through Continued Professional Development to expanding my knowledge and 'toolbox' to ensure that everyone I work with has the most effective, thorough and quickest results achievable.
Below you can find some of the most common therapy types I use in my practice. Click on the links to read more
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Suggestion therapy gives positive suggestions and is used to motivate individuals to achieve desired changes. This type of therapy is ideal for the simpler types of problems such as nail biting, pre-test or public speaking nerves, relaxation, confidence boosting etc; and most only require one or two sessions perhaps with a booster later on.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works at the level of the neo-cortex, the rational, logical, language part of the brain.
It seeks to identify maladaptive cognitions (thoughts and feelings) and then to identify and implement the most effective strategies and coping mechanisms to reduce the impact of the negative cognitions and resulting feelings and actions or behaviours.
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy
BWRT stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy and is a new model of psychology and psychotherapy that fits comfortably with current thinking on neuroscience. It is determinedly solution focused and evidence based.BWRT is based on the natural way the brain worksand uses the exact same mental processes to resolve your problems as were causing them in the first place. BWRT uses neuroscience principles to rewire unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns.
Beliefs Work
Beliefs work is a therapy that is conducted at the same neo-cortex level as CBT but it is focussed on belief systems and their impact on day to day emotions and mental well being. by understanding these beliefs and the impact they are having, an individual can often update or adapt them for more helpful ones and learn to manage thinking and feeling in a most beneficial way with far reaching impact
Hypno-Analysis
Analytical therapy operates on the doctrine of cause and effect. It is a longer process than simple suggestion therapy but it seeks to identify and resolve the root cause of the problem, thereby negating the need for the presenting symptoms and ensuring a more complete and longlasting resolution.
Coaching and Goal Setting
Coaching and goal setting gives a client clarity of thought and structure in identifying goals with well formed outcomes. It can also identify and super-charge motivation, commitment and efficiency, help a client to push their boundaries and limitations in a productive and constructive way and to exceed even their own expectations in many area such as personal goals, corporate performance, and sporting performance and achievement.
